Thank you to Kandi Furphy for her inspiring commitment to serving children and families here in Laramie!

She shares her story:

My name is Kandi Furphy and I have lived in Wyoming all of my life. I was born and raised in Lander. I came to Laramie for college, met my husband, and stayed. I cannot imagine living anywhere else. I love Wyoming and feel blessed to call it my home.

After retiring from a wonderful career in education I looked for projects, causes, important life work that would satisfy my desire to give back and Family Promise found me. The mission of Family Promise is to help homeless and low income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. What better way to express my gratitude for all of God’s gifts than to be a volunteer coordinator for Snowy Range Evangelical Church. Family Promise is a humane intervention for people down on their luck. It is so much more than temporary housing. It connects people to employment opportunities, provides good meals and balanced nutrition, assists children to attend school regularly, and helps families find permanent housing. I am excited for the future of Family Promise in Laramie and look forward to serving!
