Jennifer Wittstock
Case Manager
Jen is excited to work with the clients and community of Family Promise of Albany County and to support the organization’s mission to assist families that are currently experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. This mission resonates deeply with her, as her family lived through the painful reality of homelessness for two years when she was a teenager, and that homelessness led to her separation from the single father who raised her. This experience shaped her understanding of how vital it is to keep families together during challenging times. She knows firsthand the emotional toll and the sense of instability that homelessness can bring, and it fuels her passion to contribute to efforts to support families in crisis. By helping to ensure that others don’t face the heartbreak of separation that she and her father faced, she hopes to make a meaningful difference and foster a sense of stability and belonging to those in need.
Jen has over two decades of nonprofit and for-profit experience. Her nonprofit background includes tenures with organizations that battle hunger by providing meals to under-served community members in Chicago via The Bread Truck (aka “the soup kitchen on wheels”), provide healthcare to uninsured and underinsured individuals, increase women’s access to skilled trades, mobilize volunteers to build a stronger and more unified community, and support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault through education and systems advocacy. Her for-profit experience includes administering bank community-investment initiatives via partnering with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity to support the acquisition, new construction, and/or rehabilitation of affordable rental or owner-occupied housing through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago’s (FHLBank Chicago) Affordable Housing Program (AHP) General Fund, as well as helping income-eligible customers achieve homeownership through FHLBank Chicago’s Downpayment Plus (DPP®) and Downpayment Plus Advantage (DPP Advantage®) programs.
Jen holds a Master of Science degree, earned with distinction, in Public Service Management from DePaul University in Chicago, Il. and a Bachelor of Arts degree earned summa cum laude from Regis University in Denver, Co.
